My name is Kai and I'm a love, sex and relationship coach, somatic sex educator, and tantra teacher with a private practice based in San Francisco.
My mission is to support people of all kinds so they can be happy in their bodies and in their relationships. I welcome people of all identities, cultures, gender expressions, orientations, ages*, abilities and bodies and my goal is to help us access the divine love, pleasure and wisdom within. This work is my great love and my form of activism.
My approach is unique in that it's holistic, experiential and interactive. I have many influences including mindfulness, Tantra, Taoism/Qigong, sacred sexuality, Hakomi therapy, breathwork, and a wide variety of healing modalities, especially somatic (body-based) ones.
I love helping people find their own voice, strength and desires, independent of cultural, societal and familial messages. From this version of ourselves, we can be confident in who we are, be who we really want to be and have the satisfying sex and relationships we really want. We can also have the greatest impact-- not only on our own lives, but on our communities and the world at large.
Besides working with people one-on-one, I also teach workshops and classes on tantra, sexuality and relationships. I am co-founder of the Embodiment Arts Collective, a San Francisco-based multi-disciplinary healing arts collective, which has a sex-affirming and inclusive social justice mission. I am honored to be part of the teaching faculty at the Ecstatic Living Institute and also maintain membership in the American College of Sexologists.
I have an open multi-cultural perspective. I was born in South America and spent most of my childhood living in different places around the world. I speak fluent Spanish and conversational Mandarin and Cantonese. I'm proud to offer culturally-aware and cross-cultural support. Some of my specialties include women's issues and concerns, male sexual dysfunction, and working with people who come from what are considered "traditional" cultures, religions and/or backgrounds.
* I only work with adults who are at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18 and looking for sex education, I recommend Scarleteen.

Credentials & Experience
Many years ago, I went to the University of California at Berkeley and studied political science and economics because I was curious about how the world worked. After working in both the entrepreneurial and corporate worlds for over a decade and a half, I realized that I was even more curious about how people worked, especially in the area of love, sex, intimacy and relationships. Although I believe that the wisdom and resilience gained and earned through lived experiences are my greatest teachers, here are a few of the modalities and trainings that inform my work the most:
I am a Certified Somatica® Practitioner and trained in the Somatica Method® of Sex Therapy and Relationship Coaching with Celeste Hirschman, MA and Danielle Harel, PhD. Somatica offers real-time interactions with your partner and/or your sex coach, while receiving support, guidance and feedback. It also offers you a real experience of secure attachment. For adults, a holistic experience of attachment includes intimacy and erotic connection. I have studied SkyDancing® Tantra extensively with renown tantra teachers Margot Anand and Steve and Lokita Carter, have fully completed the year-long SkyDancing Tantra Professional Teacher and Coaching program, and am a Certified SkyDancing Teacher. I trained in Sexological Bodywork™ and am certified through the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Sexological Bodywork™ is somatic, erotic education that assists individuals, couples and groups to deepen their experience of embodiment. Certified Sexological Bodyworkers are trained sexologists whose certification is approved by the State of California. Our teaching involves a variety of instructive modalities, including breathwork, touch, erotic massage, pelvic release bodywork, scar tissue remediation, and Orgasmic Yoga coaching. |
